Multi
DB gives you the tremendous power and flexibility to do all of the
following operations:
ADMIN Features (you as the website owner)
- Allows you
to add an unlimited number of unique databases at the click of
a button.
- Powered
by Mysql which means there is practically no limit to how large
and complex your database can grow without the loss of efficiency
experienced with the typical flatfile database.
- Allows you
to delete a database and all its associated data at the click
of a button (with a confirmation screen popping up to be sure
you really want to delete the database.
- Works well
with Access databases on your local PC. Simple Import/Export functions
allow you to transfer data to and from your local PC environment
very easily.
- Allows you
to add new fields to your database any time you want.
- Allows you
to delete fields from your database any time you want - and it
even deletes the data entered under that field. This is a great
feature because it saves you the effort of exporting your data
set, deleting the non-relevant field on your PC and then reimporting
it in your redesigned database. Multi dB does all this bookkeeping
for you.
- Allows for
the addition of the following types of fields: Text box, Select
box, radio buttons, checkboxes, email (allows you to explicitly
state that a field should be displayed as an email link), picture
(allows you to enter picture data - which can be automatically
uploaded from your PC as you enter the picture data - and displays
it as a picture) and a comments box to allow for detailed descriptions.
- Add all
your data records in one of two ways. The first way is through
a simple data entry form which supports automatic picture upload
from your PC if you are placing pictures in your database. The
second way is to use our import function to upload a large number
of records at one time
- Delete individual
records by finding them through the admin search function and
then deleting them by simply checking off the records you want
to delete and hitting a button.
- Modification
of individual records by finding the record you want to modify
with a simple search and then have the ability to change any fields
you want with the new data you require for that record.
- You can
create the search experience your customers will see. There are
no restrictions, You can create a form they will fill in to perform
the searches or your can create hard coded links or pull-dowm
menus that they can click on to get the results (great for a search
by manufacturer, by price range, etc. - any time you don't want
the customers to have to think too much to get the results they
need.)
- Export database
- this powerful feature allows you to take all the data you have
on the web and save it to a file in a format ready for importation
into any PC based application that accepts comma or tab delimited
records. Also, Multi dB allows for importing records into the
database which is great for migrating your PC based data sets
to the web quickly and easily.
- Highly configurable
output displays. You can specify which fields will be shown in
a summary search as well as the various colors used in the search
results, including text color, background color, table background
and border colors and much more.
- Configure
header and footer of search output pages with any html code you
want.
- Admin customizable
detailed output display. One of the most powerful tools of Multi
dB is the ability to completely customize the look and feel of
the detailed search output results for your customers by creating
a simple html template that will allow the data to be viewed in
any way you desire. This gives you complete control over your
customer's experience on your web site.
- Password
protection to ensure that you are the only one who can modify
your database definitions or data sets.

Minimum
requirements to run Multi dB on your web site.
- Your system
must be UNIX or Linux .
- You must
have a cgi-bin directory.
- You must
have mysql available to you. This is offered as a free standard
feature or upgrade on many UNIX accounts . We can recommend services
which will provide you Unix or Linux service.
If
installing a cgi script sounds complicated for you, that's no problem.
We will happily install Multi dB for you at no extra charge as long
as your web site meets the three qualifications above.
